3/15/2008 8:18:24 PM EDT This series of pics shows how the fake sights are assembled. The first thing I noticed while taking the sight apart was how filthy it was inside. Dirt, dust, metal shavings, dried old grease etc…The diode is held in place by cheap black electrical tape. The windage and elevation screws just push the plastic tube shown, small metal leaf springs counteract the movement. These springs are just held in place by friction, once I removed the inner tube they fell out. WasatchAR

1/25/2012 3:42:56 PM I used to swear by the old Leupold one piece base, then migrated to the dual dovetail one piece base. I’m now on to picatinny types for some guns as it’s an easy switch to use another scope for a purpose. I like to keep a backup scope or two around in Scope Rings . I do the same with Leopold QRW’s but the two peice bases on sporter rifles aren’t uniform in Scope Ring spacing so they’re not as transportable. The picatinny rail fixes that. On some rifles I want the scope as low as possible or as light as possible so I’ll skip the picatinny.
